Supply of Electronic Logbooks to UK Fishing Industry
AST Marine Sciences is an approved supplier of Electronic Logbook Software Systems (ELSS) to UK fishing vessels.
Under new EU Regulations introduced in January 2010 fishing vessels above 24 meters are now required to install an electronic logbook system to replace the current paper based logbook. AST’s ELSS solution is based on eCatch, a real-time electronic catch reporting and management system developed by partner Dualog. AST were the first to be approved to supply electronic logbooks to UK fishing vessels and are currently the largest installer of ELSS systems. Electronic logbooks will also become a mandatory requirement for vessels above 15 meters from 1st July 2011.
Dualog, based in Tromsø, Norway, first supplied eCatch to Norwegian fishermen in 2007 and have extensive experience working closely with the skippers to develop a user-friendly, simple-to-use solution. Dualog were also the first Electronic Logbook software system supplier approved by the Norwegian Fishing Authorities and currently have installed eCatch in over 260 vessels.
