Iridium 9505A Satellite Handset

Applied Satellite Technology (AST) are proud to have once again provided Antony Jinman with satellite communications equipment for his latest expeditions.
Antony travelled to Baffin Island in March 2008 to raise awareness for the International Polar Year 2007/08 and reported back on the effects of climate change to Inuit life was supplied with a an Iridium 9505a satellite handset.
In February 2009 Antony headed back to Baffin Island to see what changes had happened since his last visit. Whilst there Antony used the satellite communications equipment loaned to him by AST to update his blog site www.antonyjinman.com and also blogs on ‘This Is Plymouth’ and the ‘Blue Project’ websites.
After 6 weeks of living with the Inuit Antony returned to the UK for a brief respite before departing again in April 2009 as part of team skiing 550 km across the massive Greenland Ice Cap. Antony once again took the Iridium 9505a satellite handset provided by AST to enable him to report back on his expedition.
With 17 schools, colleges and university involved in supporting the trip, Anthony used the Iridium 9505a to allow students to ask questions which were sent directly to the satellite phone and actively take part on the project. The handset was also used the handset to send back blog updates photos and audio files direct to his website. Antony commented, “The Iridium 9505a worked brilliantly with the PDA for sending back blog updates to my website and photos.”
